mark your calendars!

I had a meeting with the Wellness Director at school yesterday to talk details and logistics about our kick-off event I’m planning for Body Image Awareness Week- a walk!!! I’m really excited to be planning this event and hope everything goes well, but I am able to tell you the exact date and time now for all of your calendars 😉

It’s going to be Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 11 am – 1 pm. The walk is going to about a 3-mile loop around American’s campus.

So what can you do to help?

1. WALKERS! If you’re in the DC area and would like to come support me, we’d love for you to get involved with the school and it’s efforts to reduce the stereotypes that size and labels create.

To register, there will be a $5 donation which will go directly to the FREED Foundation and ultimately to help someone get the treatment they need to survive 🙂 How cool is that? Obviously, larger donations will be greatly accepted and I’ll tell you when registration and the donation page is up and running!

2. Volunteers. I’m going to need some volunteers that morning at specific points throughout the loop to keep people from going into the street, help me with registration, making posters, and other misc. activities.

3. Also, if there are any people who’d like to help make or donate food items for the walk that are both nutritious and tasty, please e-mail me. Thank you to Angela already for donating Glo bars!

Since it is in the late morning on a Sunday on a college campus, it’s inevitable that people will be rolling out of bed to participate so we’d like to fuel them properly and allow you some marketing visibility if you’d wish 🙂

What do you think… should we make t-shirts for this walk? Do you like event t-shirts or just toss them to the side? Maybe a design contest will be in the future…
